Essentials for Working with Young Children, 3rd Edition Available Now!

The Council is pleased to announce Essentials for Working with Young Children, third edition, in English is available for purchase through the online Council store. Essentials continues to be the go-to textbook for CDA^® candidates, instructors, and ECE professionals. You can look forward to seeing a significant emphasis on equity in this new edition. Through a collaboration with the Children’s Equity Project, Essentials was reviewed through an equity lens. The review included updated children’s book recommendations, techniques for settling conflicts, communicating with families, and providing methods to celebrate and honor diversity in the classroom. Council Store Publications Schedule

The remaining new editions will be available during the following timeframes:

• Essentials Workbook, third edition, in English is available for preorder. Orders will begin shipping in late March.
• Fundamentos para trabajar con niños pequeños, tercera edición, textbook and workbook in Spanish will be available in April.
• Fundamentos para trabajar con niños pequeños, segunda edición, textbook and workbook in Spanish will remain available for purchase until the third edition is launched in April.

Publications Price Increase

There will be a cost increase for Council publications. These cost increases are in alignment with industry standards for publications. The updated prices are listed below:

Note: The new price for the CDA^® Competency Standards books will go into effect on April 15. All publications, bundles, and value packages will be available in English and Spanish.
