Angela A. Wilson is the owner and president of Esteem Life Coaching. For more than 30 years, Angela has served children, educators, and families in the early childhood field by providing classroom instruction, professional development, educational resources, conference presentations and life coaching support.  She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and continued coursework there in the Birth-Kindergarten Interdisciplinary Studies master’s degree program. She is currently employed by PBSNC (formerly UNC-TV), as an Educational Specialist, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the Educational Leadership Department. She is also licensed by NC Department of Public Instruction as a Birth-Kindergarten teacher and is the former owner/director of the Ark of Safety Preschool, High Point’s first Five Star North Carolina Licensed center. During her extensive career, she has been recognized and honored for her contributions to a variety of civic, educational, religious, and professional organizations.

Along with her family, Angela resides in High Point, NC, the Furniture Capital of the World. She is a fourth generation High Pointer who enjoys close bonds with family and lifetime friends. In addition to educational, civic, and professional pursuits, for the past three decades, Angela and her family have operated the Bread of Life food ministry that distributes food to shelters and indigent families in neighboring communities.

In 2020, Angela became a certified life coach and established Esteem Life Coaching the following year. Esteem Life Coaching offers services and approaches that are primarily designed to support early childhood educators in their quest to be emotionally and mentally prepared to serve their children. Esteem Life Coaching draws information from behavioral theories, strategies and models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Locus of Control, and the ABC Model to guide clients and participants through mindfulness, self-awareness, and self-reflection experiences. While it’s impossible to gauge every event that occurs in life, Esteem Life Coaching helps educators to be mindful, intentional, and deliberate in their responses. Their coaching services provide:

  • a safe space for emotional sharing…a positive place that welcomes transparency, vulnerability, and candid reflection, while being absent of judgement or punitive responses
  • support for capacity building, personal growth, and self-efficacy
  • a listening ear, an encouraging word, an accountability partner, and a sounding board for processing the complexities of life, while helping to unlock the answers inside

(Coaches are not therapists. Therapists are licensed and specially trained to help people heal, life coaches help people to reach their goals).

Angela is an agent of change who is guided by her strong sense of community, human connection, and family commitment.  Recently she shared this golden nugget from her childhood memories.  “My grandmother often said to us, ‘bloom where you’re planted.’ She instilled the message in us that we possess the power within to create a ripple effect of positive impact in our own individual microcosms. Esteem Life Coaching exists to wrap that, and other empowering messages in modern-day early childhood pedagogy, and use it to strengthen the amazing educators who nurture and teach young learners. My mission is to help develop and support an effective early childhood workforce by affirming, validating, and esteeming the teachers to be the best versions of themselves.”
